Known 1st Prestige bug: Activision’s workaround calls for Rare weapons with exactly three attachment slots that have never had four or more. Stripping attachments off an upgraded gun doesn’t count.

How it works

What you get

  • Needs all 18 Trait Points earned (Onyx III); most sources say they need not be spent. Separate from multiplayer Prestige and the DMZ level track.
  • The required gear and cash are consumed. Anything else left on the Operator is lost, so move keepers to the Stash first.
  • Regular Traits reset and the 18 Trait Points must be earned again. DMZ Player Level is unaffected.
  • Each Prestige grants one random Permanent Prestige Trait; an Operator holds up to three.
  • From the 4th Prestige you get a new random trait not already held, and can swap it for one of your three or discard it.
  • Permanent traits stay with the Operator through dismissal, slot moves and skin changes.
  • CODCentral reports the pool as 12 Pro traits, four per tree, such as Possum Pro and Field Crafting Pro. Not confirmed elsewhere.
  • Prestiging several different Operators unlocks calling cards and undisclosed rewards.

  • Known bug: some eligible Operators cannot Prestige. Activision lists it as under investigation on all platforms (as of Oct 23).
  • Prestige 1 workaround: equip Rare weapons with exactly 3 attachment slots that never had 4 or more; stripping attachments from upgraded guns does not work.
  • No workaround is known for later tiers that require 4-slot weapons.
  • CODCentral reports the Prestige button stayed locked during early access even when requirements were met. Other guides do not mention this.
  • One guide claims a maximum of 3 Prestiges; Activision's guide says the 3rd-tier requirements repeat for every later Prestige.
